Bangor, Maine City Council Bans Flavored E-Cigarettes Again

2022-08-10

The Bangor City Council in Maine met Monday night to vote 6-1 to enact a second ordinance banning the sale of flavored tobacco products.

The ordinance would ban the citywide sale of all flavored tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and menthol-flavored products. The ordinance would ban the sale, display, marketing and advertising of flavored tobacco products, according to the City Council meeting agenda, the Maine News Center reported.

The city banned flavored tobacco products back in October, but rescinded its decision earlier this year after a procedural error.

If violated, the ordinance also imposes fines of $50 to $100 for the first violation within a 24-month period and $300 to $1,000 for each subsequent violation within a 24-month period.
