Busting popular myths about vaping

by:Runfree     2023-03-20
1/30/2023 The first vape device was invented nearly two decades ago, and since then, electronic cigarettes have become very popular around the world, providing a safe option for both non-smokers and ex-smokers. While epidemics are also controversial, there are some misconceptions about vaping and vaping right now, some of which our team at JOECIG will be investigating today. Unfortunately, many of these misconceptions have given vaping a bad name, so to set things straight, we debunk some of the most popular myths about vaping.
E-cigarettes won't help you quit smoking
One of the main reasons e-cigarettes are so popular is that they are not tobacco products and do not pose the same risks to your health. For some, e-cigarettes are used as a stepping stone to overcome nicotine addiction and quit smoking for good.
It is widely believed that e-cigarettes don't actually help you quit smoking, they just give you something else to smoke and you end up going back to tobacco. However, this could not be further from the truth. Studies have shown that e-cigarettes are almost twice as effective at helping smokers quit as other alternative treatments. They can really make quitting smoking easier, and they're an important first step in the right direction.
Smoking electronic cigarettes is harmful to health
The main argument many people make against e-cigarettes is that because they are a form of smoking, they must be as dangerous as smoking tobacco. Some are concerned about the chemical diacetyl, also used in e-liquids, and the side effects of high levels of exposure, such as 'popcorn lung.'
In the European Union, diacetyl has actually been banned for use in e-cigarettes and e-liquids, so you're less likely to get lung disease from vaping. Additionally, e-cigarettes do not contain any tar, which is one of the main causes of health problems when smoking tobacco.
No one knows what's in e-juice
This is one of the biggest myths about vaping when the fact is that we know exactly what's in e-liquid. Under various regulations, all e-liquids and other vaping products must meet minimum quality and safety standards.
In case you're concerned, all e-liquids have ingredients on their labels. Providing this information is a legal requirement to help customers make informed purchasing decisions. So not only do we know what's in e-cigarettes, but their ingredients are heavily regulated.
E-cigarettes are harmful to others
One of the concerns people have about tobacco smoke is how it affects the health of those around the smoker. Secondhand smoke is very harmful and can lead to various complications such as bronchitis, lung disease, and even cancer. While exposure to secondhand smoke is undoubtedly harmful, exposure to e-cigarette vapor is not.
The liquid used in e-cigarettes consists of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), flavorings and nicotine, all of which are harmless. There is no evidence that vaping is harmful to the health of any bystanders. Of course, those already struggling with respiratory ailments may find the vapors an irritant, like pollen and cold air.
