Canadian government develops new e-cigarette regulations: requiring manufacturers to provide relevant health information

2022-07-22

Canada is working on a new rule this week that would require e-cigarette makers to provide health information about sales and ingredients.

Currently, Health Canada has only limited information on vaping product sales and their ingredients, making it impossible to properly track market trends. Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Mental Health and Addiction and Deputy Health Minister of Canada, announced a 45-day public consultation period that will inform the development of new vaping product reporting regulations. This will mean vaping product manufacturers must disclose their sales and ingredients to Health Canada, which will help the Canadian government's efforts to maintain market transparency and keep pace with the growing vaping market.

Carolyn Bennett said: “As the vaping market continues to grow rapidly, many Canadians, including young people, are beginning to use vaping products. We are taking action to better understand the health effects of these products to better protect everyone. ."
