Gallup poll says Americans want stricter regulations on e-cigarettes

2022-08-15

According to a new Gallup poll, six in 10 Americans want stricter laws and regulations dealing with e-cigarettes, a view shared by most men, women and people of all ages.

Views on vaping are also bipartisan, with more than half of Republicans, independents and Democrats wanting tougher laws.

The latest findings from Gallup's annual consumer survey, conducted July 5-26, come after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration voted in June to ban the sale of popular brands of e-cigarettes.

The decision is now being appealed.

The 61 percent of Americans who now support stricter vaping laws is slightly higher than the 54 percent who held that view last year, but similar to 64 percent in 2019.

Over the years, few adults have said vaping laws should be less stringent.
