Mumbai police raid; 2,030 e-cigarettes seized, 11 arrested

Indian Mumbai police raided the city, seized 2,030 e-cigarettes and arrested 11 people.


Twelve teams conducted raids in areas such as Cuffe Parade, Khar, Tardeo, Lokhandwala and Malad and seized about 120kg of flavoured tobacco, e-cigarettes and other e-cigarettes worth Rs 1.46 lakh.


Mumbai Police's Economic Crime Unit (EOW) has seized a large quantity of flavoured tobacco and as many as 2,030 e-cigarettes in multiple raids across the city. Police also arrested 11 people for allegedly selling e-cigarettes. Police say the sale of e-cigarettes is illegal.


According to the police, CB Control received information about the illegal sale of e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes in the city, after which CB Control head PI Nitin Patil formed 12 teams to conduct raids in areas such as Cuffe Parade, Khar, Tardeo, Lokhandwala and Malad, about 120kg of flavoured tobacco, 2,030 e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes and other materials worth Rs 1.46 lakh were seized.


An official said: "In this matter, different police stations in the city have registered the FIR. Preliminary investigations revealed that e-cigarettes were also sold to minors, so the defendants were also registered under the relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
