Philippine vaping industry to be properly regulated

2022-08-30

On August 29, according to foreign reports, RELX International, the leading e-cigarette company in the Philippines, welcomed the passage of the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-nicotine Products Regulation Act or Republic Act 11900.

RA 11900 expired on July 25, 2022, and was the first comprehensive law to regulate the import, manufacture, sale, packaging, distribution, use and dissemination of vapor and heated tobacco products.

Sally Goh, general manager of RELX International Philippines, said: "With this important legislation, the vaping product industry will be properly regulated to benefit adult smokers looking to switch to better alternatives, while keeping the products out of the hands of underage users.

Under the new law, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has the power to regulate vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products and their devices and novel tobacco products sold online or in brick-and-mortar stores.

As a responsible member of the vapor products industry, RELX International is committed to working hand-in-hand with regulators to comply with the new implementing rules and regulations expected by DTI in the coming weeks.
