Sherri Jean Katz, assistant professor of Hibardian Journalism and Popular Communication School, said that she specifically studied healthy communication. "This study shows that we can reduce the interest of young people by changing the packaging."

Future research should test the flavor of adult smokers to change to determine whether the colors and images that remove the fruit flavor will affect their views on these products, and whether they still regard them as a substitute for cigarettes. More research is needed to test how the marketing restrictions on electronic cigarette products can adapt to a greater regulatory environment.
