Wall Street Journal: JUUL spend $ 1.7 billion and more than 5,000 electronic cigarette litigation settlement

2022-12-12

Lan Cave New Consumption Report, on December 11, according to the Wall Street Journal report, according to people familiar with the matter, Jum Labs has agreed to pay $ 1.7 billion to resolve more than 5,000 lawsuits filed by the school district, local governments and individuals. Electronic cigarettes are more addicted than promoting.

The amount of this transaction involves the merger of California centered on California, which is more than three times that of other JUULs reported in other states and local cases so far.

The Wall Street Journal reported the reconciliation amount earlier.

In September, the company agreed to pay $ 438.5 billion to investigate whether the company's goal was targeted at the company. Investigating the company's states are angry with advertisements featuring young models and attractive fruit and dessert tastes. The resulting reconciliation limits JUUL's marketing goals of its products.

The entire terms of the settlement agreement reached earlier this week have not been disclosed. However, JUUL has repeatedly denied the goal of minors and did not admit that there was improper behavior when reaching other agreements with the plaintiff.

Jum continues to sell its products in the United States, while waiting for the decision of the food and drug management bureau that regulates electronic cigarettes. In June, the agency rejected the company's application for allowing its electronic cigarettes and smoke bombs to continue listing. JUUL went to court and received temporary probation; FDA then put on hold on its decision for further review, and the review continued.

According to the plaintiff's lawyer, the new settlement agreement has not ended claims proposed on Aochia, which has a JUul 35%. The agreement will not provide funds immediately, but will apply for allocating funds for 10,000 plaintiffs to open a claim procedure.
