Australia further tighten the regulatory policy of electronic cigarettes

Australia's pharmaceutical regulatory agency -Medical Products Administration (TGA) will conduct public opinion inquiries in the following four aspects:


Modify imports and border control laws to prevent illegal electronic cigarette products from entering Australia;

Evaluate before listing of electronic cigarettes, and formulate control products for pharmacists and doctors;

Electronic cigarette labels, advertisements and tastes that attract children;

Strengthen the identification and supervision of Nigerine products.

In addition, according to local media reports, Mark Butler, Minister of Health, announced that mint alcohol -flavored cigarettes and other cigarette flavors and additives will also be banned.

The public opinion consultation on electronic cigarette reform will last until January 16. Butler will meet with the Minister of Health in the same month and discuss how to coordinate the response to electronic cigarettes nationwide.

Butler said that the new tobacco graphics warning will be produced, and the government will first consider asking "smoking harmful health" on each cigarette, and change the color of cigarettes to make it even more attractive.

He said that the attractive product name will also be resolved, health reminder information will be put in each cigarette case, and advertising regulations will be updated, including electronic cigarette products.

Morris Swansen, a member of the Australian Smoking and Health Commission, said that Butler has contributed to "Australia's public health and tobacco control in Australia". But in terms of electronic cigarettes, he stated that Bartler must "emergency" to ban the import of electronic cigarettes, whether or not they contain nicotine.
