On Tuesday, the Philippine State Taxation Bureau (BIR) mentioned criminal allegations suspected of tax evasion and related allegations to traders suspected of smuggling electronic cigarette products.

It is reported that the authorities have seized 50,000 to 100,000 electronic cigarettes, 899 boxes of unprecedented taxable boxes consisting of 17,5050 smoke bombs, and 6,1400 bottle -mounted seasoning oil, worth about 15 million to 30 million Philippine Peso.


The Director of the IRS warned that the government will severely crack down on traders who have not paid the correct tax. The IRS previously estimated that due to the smuggling of electronic cigarettes, the Philippine government loses approximately 1.4 billion Philippine peso revenue each year.
