The Canadian province of British Columbia has seized $100,000 worth of e-cigarettes and busted campus vaping groups

March 23 - Police in Saanich, British Columbia, Canada, reportedly said they have uncovered a sophisticated operation to sell e-cigarette products to children, often on campus, and confiscated more than $100,000 worth of products.

Saanich police began their investigation in November 2022 after reports of people showing up at middle and high schools to sell vaping products to minors.

In a media release on Wednesday, police said they then witnessed the products being sold to teenagers during and after school at schools in the metropolitan area.

Police also witnessed suspects selling goods to teenagers and accepting cash or bank card payments in parks and shopping malls.

The sellers were equipped with portable point-of-sale machines and used meal delivery service bags to hide their products, police said.

"It is clear that the way these items are branded and marketed is designed to attract young people to buy them, and that these people are specifically targeting schools to sell their products." Saanich police Const.

On Friday, the Saanich Police Department's Street Crimes unit, supported by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, searched a business in the 700 block of Vanalman Avenue in Victoria and seized alleged contraband.

Items seized included vape kits, pens, e-cigarettes, vape oil and disposables, as well as liquids with up to 98 percent THC content and some tobacco products, according to police.

Police have made no arrests, but say their investigation is ongoing.
